Steve Turre Quartet The Steve Turre Quartet will perform at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center, Harrisburg Area Community College, 1 HACC Drive, Harrisburg, on Sunday, May 22. Steve Turre has been one of the most in demand musicians on the New York City jazz scene since 1980, performing with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and many others. In his stellar career he has been a member of TV's Saturday Night Live Band since 1984 while touring internationally and appearing on over 90 recordings. With 15 albums as a leader, including his recent "Sprit Man", Steve will bring his all-star Quartet to the Rose Lehrman Arts Center featuring NYC musicians Rick Germanson (piano) Gerald Cannon (bass), and his talented son Orion Turre (drums) - all superlative musicians. The Cedar Cliff High School Jazz Ensemble will open the program at 3 p.m. Directed by Rob Starrett, the band has won many competitions and is an exemplary group of young musicians. It is part of the mission of the Friends of Jazz to give performance and educational opportunities to deserving area school and professional groups.
