This summer, the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County is operating a public swimming pool for our community to stay active and have fun. The YWCA will run two outdoor pools on 730 Chambersburg Road. There will be monthly events, full snack bar, and we will be open to the public.

Anyone can come to the outdoor pool and purchase an $8 pool pass for the day. We will even allow you to purchase a 5-day or 10-day punch card that will be good for the whole summer. With the punch card you can pick and choose what days you want to come. We have discounted pass rates for children. Toddlers and infants under the age of two are free.

When you decide that you want to come on a regular basis, you can buy a season pass. You will be rewarded not only with a discounted rate, but with extra perks.

This summer we will honor Father’s Day in a special way. We will show the movie “Finding Nemo” and fathers can enter our facility for free with a purchase of a child’s day pass. On July 20, we will feature the movie “Monsters Inc.” and anyone coming to the pool in a costume will be rewarded with a treat from our concession stand. One child can enter for free with a purchase of an adult admission. This offer is so good, we are doing it again Aug. 17 and showing the movie “Moana.” All the movies will begin at 6 p.m. Outdoor pool members will also be able to bring in one free guest on our special event nights. You can watch a movie and swim or float!

Also new this summer, is our concession stand. We will offer hot food along with snacks and drinks. In fact, you can make a meal out of it.

An extra perk to purchasing a season pass is being able to rent the outdoor pool facilities at a discounted rate. You will have the option to rent either prior to us opening for the public or have your party during operating hours. We are prepared to not only offer you use of the pools, tables and chairs, but also the paper products.

Along with that perk is the add on option to your summer pass. Families can now add on a grandparent or nanny to their season pass. The new offer is so another adult other than the parent can bring the children to the pool. Plus, families are not required to purchase a whole new pass for that additional person. Outdoor pool members will also be able to attend the only water fitness class being held outdoors free of charge.

YWCA members have an opportunity to upgrade to use our outside pool facilities with a major discount. Those who aren’t yet YWCA members can purchase outdoor pool memberships that include a summer YWCA indoor rec pass.

The outdoor pools will be open from noon to 8 p.m. every day from May 25 through Sept. 15. One pool has a diving board, and the other is designed to be a lap swim pool. Both swimming pools start around 3.5 feet in depth. The pool with the diving board goes down to 12 feet. There are lounge chairs alongside the pools, tables with umbrellas and chairs are all available for use. A tented picnic table area is set up beside the pools. This is a great place for you to relax and allow your children or grandchildren to jump in and have fun.

There is ample parking for everyone to come and relax. We have a chair lift by both pools for anyone who may need that extra help getting in and out of the water. There are bathrooms/changing room areas with toilets and showers. There is also a private bathroom for those with special needs or those who would prefer the privacy. There is a playground adjacent to the pools with infant and toddler swings.

If you are a YWCA basic member, or a rec pass member that does not have an annual membership, now is the time to change. People who are not yet YWCA members are encouraged to take advantage of our annual rec pass for individual use or family use. YWCA rec pass members receive free access to all our land and water fitness classes, plus discounted indoor and outdoor program activities from summer camp to summer swim team.
