We have only just entered the 2019 farmers market season and the Adams County Farmers Market Association (ACFMA) has a lot of fun and exciting volunteer opportunities lined up for the year. Volunteers for the ACFMA will be able to learn about local farms, network with professionals in agriculture, work with children, and help coordinate events at the market.
Currently, the ACFMA is recruiting volunteers for Kids Day on Saturday, June 22. Volunteers will lead games and activities for children. The ACFMA will also need volunteers for an event at the end of July which will be aimed at encouraging young entrepreneurs, the official date has yet to be set.
Volunteer opportunities also include playing acoustic instruments at the market to generate a pleasant shopping atmosphere, and also taking photographs of market events.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering this farmers market season, please reach out to Reza Djalal at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the webiste acfarmersmarkets.org/volunteer.
The grass is growing and the flowers are peeking out of their beds. It is the time of year when the Adams County Office for Aging Inc. (ACOFA) starts receiving requests for help with cleaning up those flower beds and pulling the weeds that grow along with the grass and flowers. ACOFA is seeking volunteers who like being outside to help with these chores for older adults who can’t physically manage them. If you would be willing to spend some time (very flexible) helping with yard work, please contact Linda Thompson at ACOFA at 334-9296 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
Join the Adams County Literacy Council, 1685 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg. The adult education classes run year-round and there are openings for students and volunteer tutors. The next tutor training session is Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. RSVP to Amanda at 717-479-7032.
