Four-season container gardening is an excellent way to add color and appeal to your landscape all year long. Container gardening offers a flexible solution for using annuals, perennials, spring and summer bulbs, fall blooming plants, and evergreens.

An important component for container gardening year round is to choose a container that will tolerate freezing and thawing. Terra cottas and thin plastics most likely will not survive the different seasons. Choose a container that compliments the surrounding environment. Placement of the container is extremely important. Know the shade and sun requirements of the container’s surroundings and then select the proper plants for that location.
