The Biglerville Garden Club recently awarded scholarships to two area students.
Cody Smith is the son of Jesse and Julie Smith. He is a 2018 graduate of New Oxford High School and will be a sophomore at Penn State Main Campus with a major in Agricultural Sciences in the Fall. At New Oxford, Cody played Varsity Football and was Team Captain his senior year. He had perfect attendance and earned Distinguished Honors throughout high school. As a volunteer he participated in Adopt-a-Highway, Amy’s Ride for Cystic Fibrosis, Lion’s Club Orange Car, Outdoor Home Maintenance and Companionship for local Elderly.
Hailey Kuhn is the daughter of Kelly and Kevin Kuhn. She will graduate from New Oxford High School in June, and will begin her studies at Penn State Mount Alto majoring in Agriculture Business Management in the Fall. Hailey was active in Future Farmers of American (FFA) at New Oxford HS, and served as Chapter President her Senior Year. She is a 4H Sheep member and participated in competitions locally and nationally in shearing and wool handling. She has over 300 community service hours, and participated in school choir and orchestra. Hailey is active in school and participates softball, swimming and field hockey.
The Biglerville Garden Club recognizes the outstanding achievements of these students and wishes them continued success.
Scholarships are available through the Biglerville Garden Club and information is available from high school guidance offices.
