LDS serving at Shining Stars

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gettysburg Ward worked together to provide service at Shining Stars Therapeutic Ministries farm on Saturday, June 22. Church members cleaned stables, mulched and painted fence posts in preparation for summer riding programs.

Brandy Crago, executive director and founder of Shining Stars said “the team was energetic, hard working and accomplished more in a few hours than she could have in a month.” Shining Stars mission is to provide therapeutic horsemanship programs to children, adults and families with special needs in order to improve physical, mental, emotional and social areas of their lives.

Members of The Church enjoyed spending time on the farm and being near the horses, especially the children who served.

“Serving others brings us great joy.” said Bishop Jeff Eakins. “We strive to live our life like Jesus Christ by loving and serving each day. We are grateful to be part of this community and wish to serve when and where we can.”
