He is remembered by some as a father, a character with a bright humor, even as Santa Claus, albeit a skinny one.

But in his youth, George J. Krakosky was one of thousands of soldiers who fought their way across the beaches of D-Day, eventually tearing Europe away from the control of a madman.

T.W. Burger began is journalism career at the Gettysburg Times in 1985. He worked for several other newspapers in the area during the 1990s and 2000s before returning to the Times as a correspondent in 2013.
