Opening day

Dennis Bumbaugh of Chambersburg, above left, was the first fisherman to arrive at the Knouse pond in Orrtanna on Tuesday which the first day of trout season. He had the entire pond to himself for about an hour until another fisherman found out opening day was moved up. Fishing is currently permitted at the Knouse Foods ponds in Orrtanna during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Knouse reminds anglers that social distancing, according to PA Fish & Boat Commission’s posted 6-foot guidelines, must be followed. Knouse Foods Co-operative Inc., which owns the property, is working cooperatively with the commission out of concern for community safety and well-being.
