Land where Confederate troops seized and then lost Union cannons may soon pass from the Gettysburg Municipal Authority (GMA) to the Civil War Trust, a national non-profit organization dedicated to battlefield preservation.

A unanimous GMA board Monday authorized the Trust's director of real estate, Tom Gilmore, to draw up a proposed sales agreement. Under its terms, the Trust would buy slightly less than one acre for $80,000. Board members plan to review the agreement at their next meeting.
