The man airlifted from a Latimore Township crash Monday has died.

Joseph Covert, 52, of York Springs, was identified as the victim in the fatal crash, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Police did not release when he died, only saying it was at the hospital after being airlifted.

Covert’s 2003 Ford Taurus, traveling north in the 1500 block of Mountain Road, left its lane on a curve, colliding with a southbound 2006 GMC Sierra truck, driven by Brian Kipe, 46, also of York Springs, said police. The Sierra truck was towing a trailer when involved in the 1:27 p.m. wreck, said police.

Covert was airlifted from the scene to Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, where he later died, police said.

While Kipe was hurt in the crash, his 20-year-old passenger was uninjured, according to state police.

The Cumberland County Coroner was contacted for comment, but did not respond.
