Conewago recognizes officer

Conewago Township Acting Police Chief Gary Baumgardner, left, presents a letter of commendation Monday to Officer Christopher Snyder for his swift actions leading to the Aug. 24 arrest of an armed robbery suspect. Snyder’s work was also commended by the Penn Township Police Department.

In initial discussion of the 2020 budget at a Monday workshop session, Conewago Township supervisors signaled that residents will likely face the first real estate tax increase in seven years.

An increase of a half mill would raise the average homeowner’s bill by $104 and generate $322,000 to cover a projected deficit and jump start a new reserve fund, township Manager Barbara Krebs said.
