The Vault Theater Company will present Disney’s Newsies at Gettysburg College’s Majestic Theater Saturday and Sunday, June 15 and 16.

Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “Newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies Newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right.

Disney’s Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

The production features a cast of over 40 local performers from Hanover, York and Adams counties, and northern Maryland. The actors range in age from 7 to 49 years old. The cast highlights many local high school performers and the is rounded out this year by many local adult actors. Leading the show as Jack Kelly will be Nicholas Stueckroth from Hershey. The cast also features Gillian Sturtz as Kathrine Plumber; she is a student at New Oxford.

Supporting the cast will be a live orchestra of 10 musicians lead by Neal Wentz, conducting, and Michael Frock as accompanist. The show will feature an incredible set design by Douglas Reese, Tara Setliff, and Kraig Sturtz. Reese is also technical director for the show. Tickets are $23, or $18 for students.

Tickets are available online for which additional fees apply, at the box office at 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, or by phone at (717)337-8200.
