Judge Kuhn became a judge in the Adams County Court of Common Pleas in 1986, and in 2002, became President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. On Jan. 1, 2013, he stepped down as President Judge to assist now-President Judge Michael George with a smooth administrative transition until 2016. "All of us put in this position are put here at the will of the people; to serve the people," commented Kuhn. "We have no entitlement to our position. We only have the priviledge of the opportunity of serving." Kuhn thanked colleagues and staff for their support during his tenure. Those colleagues filled the historic courtroom at the Adams County Courthouse to capacity in his honor Wednesday, giving him two standing ovations. Pictured with the proclamation, from left, are Commissioner Jim Martin, Commissioner Chairman Randy Phiel, Judge John D. Kuhn, and Commissioner Marty Karsteter Qually.
