The Bermudian Springs Elementary School is undergoing significant changes to its front entrance and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system this summer. Access to the school is closed with offices temporarily relocated to the high school. The renovations, which began in May, will enhance safety and security as well as provide a climate-controlled environment. Superintendent Dr. Shane Hotchkiss said the $2.6 million project is on schedule and contractors said the front entrance, shown above, will be accessible by Aug. 16. The first day of school is Aug. 20. Bus drop-off and pick-up will return to normal, but the front office area will not be complete until September. The HVAC system will be operational when school starts, but not completely finished until October. An update on the district’s proposed $35 million new middle school, with construction to begin in 2020, will be given at the July 24 buildings and grounds meeting at 2 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
