Joseph A. Clabaugh II, 66, of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in Bethesda, Md. He was the loving husband of Joyce (Skaggs) Clabaugh for 45 years.
Born Feb. 20, 1944 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Marie (Small) Clabaugh.
Joseph was employed with Wolf’s Bus Lines Inc., York Springs, for 25 years. He was employed as a police officer for Hanover Boro for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was a patrol officer for 10 years and sergeant for 23 years. Mr. Clabaugh was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1962 to 1966 during Vietnam. His memberships include the Fraternal Order of Police # 69; Republican Club of Hanover; the National Rifle Association; American Legion Post #202, Gettysburg; Gold Wings Road Riders Association Patriot Guard Riders; the Blue Knights V; The York 912 Patriots and the Sons of Liberty Riders.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Joseph A. Clabaugh III and wife Diane, Sarasota, Fla., Curtis L. Clabaugh, Hanover; a sister, Doris McDannell and her husband Jay, Orrtanna; and one grandson, Zach Clabaugh, York College.
A service to celebrate the life of Joseph A. Clabaugh II will be held Monday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with the Rev. David Latshaw officiating. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
