Picking up right where they left off last cross country season, the Gettysburg Warriors served notice that they are the team to beat in 2019. Gettysburg hosted a five-way meet on Thursday, and the boys came out on top with a strong 1-2-3-4 finish to decidedly defeat New Oxford, Spring Grove, York Catholic and Biglerville. The girls were nearly as dominant, going undefeated as well on the strength of a 1-2-3 finish.

Senior Andrew Hirneisen, defending District 3 3A champion, won easily in 17:06, and was followed by super-soph Drew Cole (17:33). The home course at Gettysburg has been slightly modified due to extreme and chronic sogginess and mud along Rock Creek. While the change does not have any significant effect on the racing, it is in fact a different course in the first 1.5 miles.
