Kennard-Dale 5, Bermudian Springs 4

The Eagles were three outs from a playoff win but the Rams had other things in mind, rallying for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snatch a 5-4 win in Monday’s District 3 Class 4A playoff game in Fawn Grove.

Bermudian (11-9) scored two runs in the top of the seventh to assume a 4-2 lead. Tucker Byers doubled and Tyler Reinert singled to get things started. Pinch runner Connor Shaw scrambled home on an error, and Shane Starner’s single plated Aaron Dupler, who entered as a courtesy runner for Reinert.

The Rams (12-6) quickly responded with a walk and a single to trigger their last-ditch rally before Wyatt McCleary roped a two-run triple. Following a pair of walks to load the bases, McCleary scored the winning run on a passed ball.

Aden Julich singled and scored on a Reinert hit in the third inning, and Starner came around to score after doubling in the fourth. Reinert, Starner, Byers and Tyler Sims collected two hits apiece for Bermudian, which out-hit the hosts 12-8.

Reinert went the distance on the mound, finishing with nine strikeouts, six walks and eight hits allowed.
