Delone Catholic flexed its muscle early and often in a PIAA playoff lidlifter on Monday, crushing Neumann-Goretti 15-2 in six innings at Arcadia University.

The Squirettes (20-3) advance to Thursday’s Class 3A quarterfinals where they will face District 4 champion Bloomsburg, a 2-1 winner over Mid Valley in its opener. The time and location of Thursday’s game is to be determined.

On Monday, the Squirettes got the party started with a four-run second inning aided by three Saints errors. They added single runs in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by singles from Meredith Wilson and Alma Partenza.

Lauren Little ripped not one but two RBI triples as part of a nine-run sixth inning that broke the game wide open for Delone. The Squirettes were back in business after Little’s first three-bagger when Maggie Rickrode clubbed a two-run double. Wilson later plated a run with a triple before Little lashed her second triple of the frame, pushing home a pair of teammates.

Little finished with 4 RBI and three runs scored from the leadoff spot while Rickrode and Wilson had two RBI each. Following Wilson’s three hits, Emma Schneider and Rickrode posted two apiece.

Partenza scored three times for Delone, which saw all nine starters record hits.

Rickrode was dominant from the mound, piling up 15 strikeouts without walking a batter. She yielded only four hits, blanking the Saints over the game’s first five frames.
