TOP TRIO — Gettysburg’s Andrew Hirneisen tracks down the leaders at the 2019 Gettysburg Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Hirneisen finished in third place, with a time of 15:15.20.

If all goes according to plan, the Gettysburg Cross Country Invite will be the last in which Andrew Hirneisen, the returning YAIAA champ, trails anyone by race’s end until at least districts.

The week leading up to the Warriors’ showcase race didn’t go quite as planned, as the Warriors dropped a division tilt to York Suburban Monday. But Hirneisen and the Warriors made amends with matching third places for best-ever finishes in their home race. Hirneisen took eighth a year ago to lead the team to fourth.
