I come from a long line of farmers. As a little girl my father would walk me to his garden and talk through the process of tilling ground, the importance of fertilizing soil, spacing seeds, the balance of sun and water for growth, protecting plants in a storm and patiently waiting to pick the harvest. Farming in essence, is an “art.”

The Adams County Arts Council has a mission to “Cultivate an Arts Rich Community.” You may ask what that means and just like farming there are many components to cultivation.

Leona Rega is executive director of the Adams County Arts Council, 125 S. Washington St., Gettysburg, PA 17325; 717-334-5006; email, aa@adamsarts.org; www.adamsarts.org. Our mission is to cultivate an arts-rich community.
