In my house the dining room décor is homemade pottery made by the artist I grew up with, Rebecca Moy. Open shelves display her pitchers, platters, and bowls, glazed in colors I recognize from every period of her work over the past 50 years.

Some of them she signed in Chinese, some with “Rebecca of Greenbridge” referring to her business, Greenbridge Pottery in Maryland. In my guest room two miniature instruments that look a bit like banjos with long fretboards are topped with Chinese characters for long life and happiness, a wedding gift from Becky’s parents.
