Why does the concept of celebrating diversity offend some Americans?

The St. Patrick’s Day parade was first held in 1601. More than a century later, homesick Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched in Boston in 1737 and in New York in 1762. This parade is still celebrated and is bigger and better than ever. We enjoy Greek and Irish food and wine festivals nationally, and Salsa on the Square locally.
