Some years back there was a large study that showed Americans sleep about 14 hours less each week than we did in the 1950s and 60s.

That translates to two hours less sleep per night or, if you sleep seven hours a night, two less nights of sleep per week. I know it’s hard to believe, but even if the figures are a stretch, they’ve made their point.
