Summer just wouldn't be summer without the annual Latimore Valley Fair a true country festival where the new mingles with the old during three days of old-fashioned fun and entertainment. The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR) sponsors this fair, along with local businesses and individuals. For 33 years dedicated volunteers and organizations have made this fair a success.
On Friday, June 22, a new to the fair, organization, the Ruffled Feathers Parrot Rescue will be present displaying an assortment of their rescue birds from 4-8 p.m. Then the antique tractor parade is at 6 p.m. and the band "Bootleg" from Manchester, Md. will play from 7-10 p.m.
Saturday, June 23, the gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. A full day of activities, including breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. by the local Lake Meade Cub Scouts. Antique race car registration starts at 9 a.m. and the cars will be on the track from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. Immediate following track time will be the Lucky Devil Hell Drivers Thrill Show including jumping cars, walls of fire and motorcycle dare devil stunts. Down the other end of the campsites, tractor pulls will begin at 9 a.m. and run until everyone gets their turn.The Carroll County 4H Rabbit & Cavy Club will be bringing their obstacle course-trained bunnies and will have a petting area with an assortment of animals from 10-4. The Ruffled Feathers Parrot Rescue will be present from 10-6. The antique tractor parade starts at 4:30 p.m. The entertainment this evening will be "Border Line" playing new and classic country music from 5 until 10 p.m.
Sunday, June 24, the Scouts serve breakfast again from 8 to 11 a.m. We will be having a "Cruise-In" on Sunday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. There will be special parking in the pit area for those in their Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Street Rods, and Drag Racing Cars to enjoy the band "Ultra Kings" who will play from 12:30 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. The antique tractor parade will squeeze in the schedule at noon then the tractor pulls will be held beginning at 1 p.m. until they're finished. At 2 p.m. there will be cackling thunder with drag car start-ups; bring your ear plugs! Cruise-In awards will be held at 4 p.m.
All weekend there will be crafts, games, Bingo, entertainment, duck races, good food, tractor parades and displays, antique cars, and cruise-in. The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing and the Museum Gift Shop will be open during the fair. Plan to spend some time enjoying these free exhibits.
