Don't miss the area premiere of the smash Broadway hit, Disney's "Newsies." Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Disney's "Newsies" is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a struggling band of "newsies," who sell newspapers on the street corners. This family-friendly show, with lively singing and dancing, is set for July 27-29 and Aug. 3-5 at Eichelberger Performing Arts Center, 195 Stock St., Hanover. Show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Presented by Acts of Kindness Theatre Company, you won't want to miss this fantastic show! Advance tickets are $13 for students, $18 for adults, and $20 for preferred seating. On the day of the performance, there is an additional $2 charge. Partial proceeds benefit the arts council.

It's not too late! We have openings for some summer camps and have added several new ones. Visit our website or call the center to enroll your child in an enriching arts experience. We offer full scholarships for children from low-income families. There's a wonderful array of arts and culinary classes for adults, too!

On First Friday July 6, we'll feature a "Beaches & Blooms" members' show and work by AP students of Amy Dreves at Gettysburg High School. We're also showcase a talented group of wood turners, led by Bob Robinson, who'll be selling functional items like wine corks, furniture, and 3D art pieces. Stop by from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for refreshments and a demo of upcoming wellness classes by instructor Paula Chaplin. Belly dancing, anyone?

Haven't seen the 15th Annual Juried Art Exhibition at Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College? Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Friday which is the last day.

Mason Dixon Distillery, 331 E. Water St., Gettysburg, will offer a special Trivia Contest on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., emceed by Jeff Hemler, to benefit the arts council. Draft a team of up to six players. Cost to play is a $10 donation per person. Members of the winning and second place teams receive a Mason Dixon Distillery gift card. Table reservations are recommended by calling the Distillery at 717-398-3385.

We're having a Scavenger Hunt for all ages in downtown Gettysburg on Saturday, Sept. 15. Participants will match arty images to the participating businesses where they can be found. Registration begins at noon at the center with the Hunt starting at 1 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded and are sponsored by arts council Director Brenda McCabe. The cost is $10 per person with up to four people allowed on a team. Children eight and under are free and not counted as a team member.
