Fifty years ago, Mary Lynn Martin began her vocation as one who felt called to extend hospitality. Current owner and head of the 70-acre Hickory Bridge Restaurant, Bed & Breakfast historic inn west of Gettysburg, Martin remains committed to “treat guests as I would want to be treated.”

Growing up in Fairfield, Martin was exposed early in life to a spirit of hospitality. Her father, Dr. James Hammett, was a family physician whose attitude, she said, was “It’s a privilege to take care of people.”
