A work day is planned Sunday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens on Chambersburg Road near Gettysburg.

Though local officials have taken initial steps to acquire the cemetery and form a nonprofit organization to provide perpetual care, work by volunteers remains crucial to the cemetery’s upkeep, Cindy Codori-Schultz said. She coordinates Oak Lawn Cemetery Family/Friends and Volunteers, which has conducted twice-yearly work days at the site since 2019.
