Tim Braband to retire from St. James

RETIRING — Tim Braband sits at the organ inside St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. He has been minister of music and organist at the church for 45 years and will retire at the end of August.

On Easter Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church, the pastor decrees and the congregation joyously confirms that Christ is Risen, indeed. Yet, parishioners remain in their seats.

With his right hand, Tim Braband, the minister of music, begins to tickle the upper keys of the organ, playing the opening notes of Tocatta from the Fifth Organ Symphony. Shortly thereafter, his left hand begins to bounce along the middle octaves, providing a snappy rhythm.
