Working

PennDOT is widening a section of Waynesboro Pike at its intersection with Orchard Road in Liberty Township to add a left turn lane. State Rep. Dan Moul (R-91), at right, visited the site Monday to see how the project is progressing. Moul pushed for PennDOT to fund the road improvement after one child was killed and a teen was injured in two crashes there last winter.

The state is footing the bill to widen a section of Waynesboro Pike (Route 16) at the intersection with Orchard Road in Liberty Township, where an 11-year-old girl died in a Jan. 19 crash.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has been working on a 1,000-foot stretch to add a center lane for left turns, allowing vehicles to pass on the right, Doug Etter, PennDOT assistant county manager said.
