Even as numerous social media posts claim anti-fascist (Antifa) activists plan to burn Confederate flags here July 1, permits have been issued to Confederate groups for demonstrations that day at Gettysburg National Military Park.

"Park staff have been coordinating with local law enforcement agencies including the Borough of Gettysburg, Cumberland Township, Pennsylvania State Police, the U.S. Park Police, and other National Park Service (NPS) law enforcement specialists. Reports of possible Antifa activities in Gettysburg have been a part of our preparation and planning," park spokesperson Katie Lawhon wrote Thursday in an email.
