Happy 100th Birthday, Jim

The Upper Adams Lions Club celebrated the 100th birthday of Samuel “Jim” Heisley at its monthly meeting Tuesday, although Heisley hits the century mark on Sept. 25. He was presented a citation from Rep. Torren Ecker, R-193. Pictured from left, seated, are Georgianna Barbour, Heisley’s friend, and Heisley; and standing, Ecker, and Carol Rex, president of the Upper Adams Lions Club. Heisley began working on a farm at the age of 14 and later worked in a furniture factory and for Bethlehem Steel. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, 1942-45, as an undercover agent and attained the rank of sergeant.
