Dog violations

COAL TOWNSHIP — Joshua T. Tanner, 39, of 1210 W. Nelson St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Michael Menapace with two counts each of recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, causing a public nuisance and 12 counts of failing to register and restrain a dangerous dog relating to an Oct. 3 incident in the 1200 block of West Nelson Street.

Police reported Tanner allowed his two pit bull type dogs, which were deemed dangerous by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on Aug. 24, to run free from his residence, attack another dog and place multiple people in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

Police said Donald Schriner was able to eventually trap the dogs in a yard at 1151 W. Fern St. Neighbors told police the dogs are constantly getting out of their property and causing problems.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN — Patrolman James Filko charged Ashley Mcglinch, 29, of Effort, with possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing a controlled substance relating to a Nov. 5 incident at 37 S. Diamond St.

Police reported Mcglinch was found in possession of a clear plastic bag of marijuana, a bag containing methamphetamine, an acetaminophen pill, five wax packets containing fentanyl, 13 syringes, a cotton swab, 10 opened small wax packets, a clear plastic container with a burnt substance, two full cigar wrapper packets, a silver grinder and other drug paraphernalia.

Theft

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP — Multiple counts have been filed against a New Columbia man who allegedly vandalized The Laundry Room of Milton, 5100 State Route 405, West Chillisquaque Township.

Jacob Heverly, 28, of 10348 River Road Apt. 4, has been charged with theft, possessing instruments of crime, criminal mischief, registration and certificate of title required, unauthorized transfer or use of registration, classes of licenses, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and operation of vehicle without official certificate of inspection.

Troopers said Heverly was observed on video arriving at the store and attempting to break open a coin dispenser, causing $250 in damage. Heverly is also accused of causing $300 damage to a restroom sink.

Retail theft

KELLY TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old Mifflinburg woman and a 26-year-old Mifflinburg man were charged with retail theft stemming from allegations related to the failure to pay for items in the self-checkout lane at Walmart, 120 AJK Blvd., Lewisburg.

Troopers said the incidents took place from Aug. 27 to Oct. 17. Sarina Nicole Hoover and Jacob Michael Bowersox, both of 272 Woodland Estates, Apt. 3, Mifflinburg, were charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property. Troopers said Hoover allegedly failed to ring up items while at the counter as Bowersox stood by and did nothing to stop her.

Police said 25 items valued at $1,204.14 were stolen.

DUI

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP — A 33-year-old Milton man has been charged with DUI and additional charges following a traffic stop in Union County.

Troopers said the stop occurred at 8:22 p.m. Oct. 22 along Dreisbach Church Road, south of Old Turnpike Road, Buffalo Township. Wayne F. Brazzle, of 123 Myrtle St., Milton, was charged with DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving without a license, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, location of registration permit, temporary registration card violation and careless driving.

According to court papers, a vehicle driven by Brazzle was stopped after it was discovered to have no registration and no temporary registration card. Troopers said an odor of marijuana was detected and marijuana residue was noticed inside the vehicle. Brazzle had no license and it was discovered his license was suspended, troopers added. A search of the vehicle yielded a small bag of crystal methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, three suspected Suboxone pills, smoking pipes, a digital scale and several small baggies.

Later blood tests showed Brazzle had marijuana in his system, troopers noted. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 5.

DUI

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP — State police charged a Lewisburg man with DUI and related charges following a traffic stop.

The stop occurred at 6:01 p.m. Nov. 2 along Buffalo Road, west of Strawbridge Road, Buffalo Township, Union County, and was initiated after a vehicle was allegedly clocked traveling 60 mph in a 45-mph zone. Joshua Warren Powell, 36, of 300 Rural Ave., Lewisburg, was charged with DUI (two counts), exceed maximum speed limit by 15 mph and careless driving.

Troopers said Powell showed signs of impairment and later tests showed his blood alcohol content to be 0.095%.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.

DUI

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP — A 62-year-old Mifflinburg man was charged with DUI and related charges after troopers stopped a vehicle for an expired registration.

Troopers said the stop took place at 5:13 p.m. Oct. 24 along Route 45, west of Red Barn Lane, Buffalo Township, Union County.

Steven Wayne Grove, of 2665 Pleasant Grove Road, was charged with DUI (four counts), registration and certificate of title required, and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.

During the stop, troopers saw two open alcoholic beverage containers and detected an odor of alcohol. Grove allegedly showed signs of impairment and tests showed his blood alcohol content was 0.115% and oxycodone was present.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.

DUI

WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP — State police charged an 18-year-old Connecticut man with traffic and drug offenses at 2:54 p.m. Sept. 19.

Cameron Robert Cyr, 18, of 14 Upson Drive, Oxford, Connecticut, was stopped for driving 74 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 15 south at the White Deer exit, troopers said.

Cyr was charged with DUI (two counts), possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance (two counts), maximum speed limits and careless driving. During the stop, troopers said an odor of marijuana was detected and Cyr admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. Later blood tests showed Cyr had marijuana in his system, troopers said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Hit and run

WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP — State police charged a 41-year-old Milton man with hit and run and other offenses following a crash at 7:13 a.m. Nov. 6 along High Street, Union County.

James Edward Walls, of 645 Shakespeare Ave., Milton, was charged with accidents involving death or personal injury while not property licensed, drivers required to be licensed, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, reckless driving, duty to give information and render aid, and immediate notice of accident to police department (two counts).

Walls was identified as the driver who crashed into a utility pole, then fled the scene. He had not been located at the time of the court filing, troopers noted.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15.

DUI

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old Lewisburg man was cited following a traffic stop at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 3800 block of Route 405, West Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County.

Gabor Czivisz was stopped while driving a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado and admitted to drinking prior to driving.
