Bonnie L. Koontz, 65, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at her home. She was the wife of Ronald E. Koontz, her husband of 39 years.
Born January 3, 1946, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of Caroline M. (Stambaugh) Wood of Gettysburg and the late Samuel M. Wood.
Bonnie was employed by the Gettysburg School District as a school bus driver for over twenty years. She was a 1964 Graduate of Taneytown High School, the last graduating class, and was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Gettysburg Congregation.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two children, Allen “Bart” Koontz and his wife Jayme of Littlestown, and April Malehorn and her husband Shawn of Hanover; six grandchildren, Ashley Koontz, Aiden Koontz, Emily Lapikockij, Chloe Malehorn, Lily Malehorn, and Sydney Malehorn.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Gettysburg, with Brother Sedric Moore Sr. officiating. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Brewer, Tony Crumbling, Tony Gilbert, Bill Wolfgang, Dave Martin, and John Basserman.
